BladeAmerica — "I'm Back!"
2/19/05:
We finished up in Pensacola, FL. I was "beat" after 2085 approximate miles and 8 states. But it was fun and the next event is already in its planning stages. There were times on the road when I wouldn't see anyone for miles and miles except my driver, Jeremy. He was HUGE in the success of this trip. I skated, he handled EVERYTHING else. After he dropped me off at the airport in New Orleans, he drove (with my cat as a companion) back to San Diego in about 3 days.
At this time, I don't know exactly how much money the event raised. I'll let you know as soon as I do. I have soooooo many stories to tell, but I'll have to get to them in my next email.
Thanks again for all your help and prayers.:Charles K. Dabney

Original press release:
Charles Dabney needs support for his 2500-mile inline skate for
Children's Hospital and Health Center of San DiegoBladeAmerica is a one-man, transcontinental inline skate journey across the United States. On August 27th,2004, Charles Dabney began his journey at the pier plaza in Imperial Beach, California, planning a roll through eight states before finishing in Daytona Beach, Florida. The BladeAmerica chase team will accompany and support him on his long journey.
“Our goal,” says Dabney, BladeAmerica’s founder, “is that BladeAmerica will raise money to help care for the kids in our community. It was my dream to do something meaningful to honor my mother and we decided that it had to be something that would help children. It’s great that my mom will be a part of this adventure and will get to see its success.” Children’s Hospital and Health Center in San Diego is the sole beneficiary of the inaugural BladeAmerica event and all future BladeAmerica events. “We hope to expand the event and include more states every year,” says Dabney.
Skaters, help Charles help the kids
I need financial assistance to help me cover the cost of a trip of this magnitude. Sponsorship contributions will go toward trip expenses: accommodations, food, gas, maintenance, equipment, etc. Net proceeds go directly to benefit Children’s Hospital & Health Center.
In return for your support, I offer coast-to-coast advertising, as there will be national media coverage throughout the event. Please, as you consider how to spend your contribution dollars, consider the kids at Children’s. They are our future…they deserve a future…the best future our love and our efforts can provide. Please contact me today!
